I am a wife, a mom, and a personal trainer. I work out six days a week, always eat lots of fruits and vegetables, never eat fast food, and don’t drink or smoke. I even get 7-8 hours of sleep each night! How could I get cancer? There’s no family history. I come from a family with a lot of females, and I’m the one who gets breast cancer? I was devastated.
I was angry at God. How could He let this happen? Why me? I became depressed and very hopeless. As time went on, I became more and more tired. My treatments seemed like they would never end.
Once I figured out what my treatment plan was, I was determined to not let the cancer change me. Somehow, someway, I would be the same Tammy I had always been. Well, you know what? I am that same Tammy but only better now! I have a new perspective on life and death. I appreciate all the little things now. I’m more likely to say yes to something, travel somewhere new, and take a chance. Most importantly, I have a greater compassion and desire to help others going through cancer treatment now.
God was there with me all along. He knew I would be a better person once this was over and had a new path for my life. I now love helping others, talking about my experience on various podcasts, and giving talks to large groups hoping to inspire them.
My background in health and fitness helped me recover quickly after each surgery and bounce back after each chemo. Just a little over a year out from finishing all treatments, and I feel strong again both physically and mentally! One thing is for sure! Don’t give up! Keep fighting, Stay positive and you will beat this!

Finally I made it to June 30th, 2020. I got to ring the bell! Finally this type of torture was done and I could move on to the next.
